Dr. Clapham earned a BA in French from Colby College in Waterville, Maine. She completed her junior year of college at the University of Tours, France, and spent a summer during high school in a village near Rennes, France, housed with a French family. She has also traveled to Haiti, Cameroon, the Dominican Republic, Bolivia, and Peru. She enjoys experiencing the commonalities among people of different cultures.

Dr. Clapham is also a registered and certified yoga teacher. She completed a year and a half teacher-training program with JJ Gormley at Sun and Moon Yoga Studio in Arlington, Virginia in 1996. She has spent extended periods teaching on the islands of Vinalhaven and North Haven, Maine. Dr. Clapham took a month long course at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandarim in Chennai, India, which deepened her knowledge of yoga philosophy and therapies, especially as they relate to integrative medicine.

Dr. Clapham views health as the complex interaction between physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual influences. Disease, or “dis” ease, is the state of imbalance in the body that affects the whole person. The aim of health care, then, is to bring the body back into a state of balance through integration.

Dr. Clapham lives in Santa Barbara. When she is not at the Clinic, she is often at the beach on her paddle board or with her miniature poodle, Lulu.

She looks forward to discovering, with each of her patients, the intricate balance needed for optimal health.
