About Us
Dr.
Lizzie Clapham earned a doctorate in naturopathic medicine in
2003 from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, Portland,
Oregon, the oldest accredited naturopathic medical school in
North America. She did extensive training in integrative medicine
and spent five summers training and assisting in a rural health
clinic on the island of Vinalhaven, Maine. She also did medical
rotations in a variety of health centers, clinics and hospitals
in Nicaragua. After graduation, Dr. Clapham completed a residency
program in integrative medicine and family practice at the Center
for Natural and Integrative Medicine, Orlando, Florida with a
doctor who is both a MD and ND. She is licensed as a primary
care doctor by the California Board of Naturopathic Medicine.
Dr. Clapham earned a BA in French from Colby College in Waterville, Maine. She completed her junior year of college at the University of Tours, France, and spent a summer during high school in a village near Rennes, France, housed with a French family. She has also traveled to Haiti, Cameroon, the Dominican Republic, Bolivia, and Peru. She enjoys experiencing the commonalities among people of different cultures.
Dr. Clapham views health as the complex interaction between physical, mental, emotional and spiritual influences. Disease or “dis” ease is the state of imbalance in the body that affects the whole person. The aim of health care, then, is to bring the body back into a state of balance through integration. Dr. Clapham specializes in general family practice. She lives in Santa Barbara with her husband, Ken. She looks forward to discovering with each of her patients that intricate balance needed for optimal health.
